5 more days until Christmas!  Almost all my shopping is done.  What kind of shopper are you?  I took my children out to shop for their Dad.  Now Kirsten looked for a gift she knew that he would like, yet it couldn't be too small, unimportant, unneeded and not a penny over her budget!  We walked each isle of the store.  She would stop, pick up an item and talk through whether or not it was a suitable gift.  2 hours later she finally decided on the perfect thing.  Her only concern was that maybe it would be good enough.

Then there was Matt.  He knew his budget and thought it through.  If he bought a gift for $2 he would have $8 to buy something for himself.  After explaining that we buy gifts for others not for ourselves it was then decided that a $9 gift that could be enjoyed by both would better suit both of them.

And at last it was Kenz.  Not always a big talker and always a great hearer (not listener) she remembered hearing a Christmas list be recited by her Dad.  So as we entered the store, stopping only a couple of times to admire some things she might like to add to her list, we went straigth to what she knew her dad wanted.  $10 too much but she knew it was what he wanted!  After careful looking she found the same item with a red tag.  ( all Ray children know what the red tag means!)  With money in hand she had $.47 left to spend.  And out side she ran to deposit what was left over in the kettle.

As I watched my kids shop I wondered about how we give our gifts to the Lord.  As a young child I used to give .50 to the pop machine and .50 in the offering plate.  I often gave what was left over.  I was willing to give back to the Lord as long as it benefited me. How is your gift giving this year?  Are you giving back to the Lord as long as it benifits you?  Do you weigh out your benifits before committing to Him?  Do you give all that you can and even that little bit left over?  Do you quietly think things through so that you always give your best?  Be a great gift giver this season! (and all year)

Kenz and I are sitting on the couch working on our laptops.  Kenz has a pink Barbie computer.  She is currently working on division.  Kirsten is watching a special on nuts.  She now knows how to make cashew butter.  That should come in handy.

Matt is our with Terry picking up Terry's hunting license and then they are off to the grocery store.  No need to worry cause they have a list.  Speaking of Terry he just called to confirm the list.  What a good shopper!

I can't believe that it is almost Christmas.  The inside of the house is well decorated the outside?  Well,  I was feeling quite proud until someone made fun of my lights.  That person should really watch out!  They never can tell when that tacky plastic manger scene might show up in their yard!

It is almost time to cook dinner.  For those who are wondering...Yes there is Bible Study.  Hope to see you there.

I am home today with a real sick kid.  Matt has swollen lymph nodes, strep throat and two ear infections.  Thankfully after 4:00 today he'll be uncontagious and will be able to go out side!  He feels fine and is driving me crazy!  I say a real sick kid because last week Kirsten was home with a fever on Wednesday but felt better that evening however she hadn't completed her homework so she a Kenz came up with a plan. She crumbled some chex mex into the toilet and put on a good "I feel really sick" show and I fell for it!  So she stayed home one more day.  Kenz, her partner in crime was a little bothered when Kirsten stayed home and she had to go to school so on the way to school she ratted her sister out!  Every single day is a new adventure!

chat later,
